MAMI WATA WINS SUNDANCE, FESPACO AND LANDS INT’L SALES!

MAMI WATA premiered at the Sundance Film Festival with resounding acclaim and success, winning the Special Jury Award for Cinematography for Lílis Soares. After it’s world premiere at Sundance, MAMI WATA had its African premiere at FESPACO, wining three awards at this prestigious event – The African Critics Award, The Best Image (Cinematography) Award, and the Best Decor (Production Design) Award. In addition to these great feats, MAMI WATA has been boarded by Alief SAS for International Sales. This is in addition to CAA Media Finance, handling North American Sales.

It’s been a short run for the black and white fantasy from West Afrika, but with so much critical acclaim garnered already – from the Hollywood Reporter, Paste, IndieWire, RogerEbert, CNN, ScreenAnarchy, Culture Mix, Shadow & Act, CNN, LA Times, Black Girl Nerds, and many more have all written and reviewed the film glowingly. Next for MAMI WATA, is the New York premiere at First Look 2023 – Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI), and followed by the DC premiere at AFI Silver’s New African Film Festival!
